In Dr. Marshall’s clinical experience, patients have reported positive results in as little as 1-3 days after taking this formula. While typical synthetic pills work by slowing the removal of neurotransmitters from the brain and are associated with significant health risks and adverse side effects, the Herbalmax™ Mood Elevator Formula has no known side effects and works naturally to restore your entire body to homeostasis.

a. Overview

Depression is not simply feeling down once in a while. It is an extended and serious mental illness that interferes with daily life. Unfortunately, depression is very difficult to diagnose as it cannot be confirmed with a blood test; consequently, many people with depression never seek treatment.

There are many different forms of depression, which are differentiated in the table below.

Type Features
Major Depressive Disorder Disabling; Interferes with work, sleep, study, eat, and normal function
Can range from one episode to multiple
Dysthymic Disorder Characterized by long-term symptoms that prevent feeling well but may not be severe enough to be disabling
Minor Depression Symptoms of 2 weeks or longer that do not meet criteria for major depression
Psychotic Depression Severe depression along with psychosis such as delusions or hallucinations
Postpartum Depression Depression experienced by women after giving birth
Occurs in 10-15% of women
Seasonal Affective Disorder Onset of depression during winter months and lifts during spring/summer
Bipolar Disorder Characterized by cycling mood changes from extreme highs to extreme lows

b. Illnesses That Often Co-exist with Depression

  • Anxiety disorders (e.g. post traumatic stress disorder)
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder
  • Panic disorder
  • Social phobia

c. Causes of Depression

Depression is an illness of the brain caused by a multitude of genetic, environmental, and psychological factors. While the cause of depression remains unproven, most scientific research points to an imbalance of neurotransmitters, or chemicals the brain uses to communicate. Through the use of brain imaging technologies such as MRI’s, it has been shown that the brains of people with depression look physically different from normal brains. Nonetheless, it is not yet known why these differences occur, nor is it possible to use these imaging techniques to diagnose depression.

Depression is sometimes found to run in families, but may also occur in people with no familial history of depression. It may also be triggered by traumatic events, a great loss, difficult relationships, or highly stressful situations.

d. Symptoms and Signs

  • Persistent sad, anxious or empty feelings
  • Intense pessimism or hopelessness
  • Feelings of guilt, worthlessness, or being trapped
  • Irritability, restlessness
  • Loss of interest in previous enjoyable activities
  • Fatigue, decreased energy levels
  • Difficulty concentrating or remembering things
  • Altered sleeping and eating patterns
  • Thoughts or attempts of self-harm and/or suicide

e. Diagnosis and Treatment

Treatment for depression exists. The first step is usually going to a doctor or a mental health counselor. These specialists will be able to rule out the possibility that symptoms of depression are caused by a different disease. Afterwards, you may be treated through medication (antidepressants or SSRIs), psychotherapy, or electroconvulsive therapy. Medication typically targets neurotransmitters to affect mood, especially serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine. These antidepressants range in negative side effects from occasional to chronic. European herbal and natural depression remedies such as St. John’s wort have been shown to be as effective as a placebo. Psychotherapy involves either cognitive-behavioral therapy or interpersonal therapy by restructuring negative thought patterns, but is often insufficient. Finally, electroconvulsive therapy or shock therapy involves giving the patient electrical impulses to stimulate the brain. This intentionally triggers a temporary seizure and causes changes in brain chemistry that quickly reverses symptoms of certain mental illnesses. This treatment is often used when others prove unsuccessful.
